The Celestron Astromaster 130EQ is a Newtonian reflector telescope, ideal for beginners it has a large 130mm aperture (345x more light gathering power than the human eye) and produces bright clear images of the moon, planets, and stars. A firm favourite for many years with those that are new to astronomy, this 130EQ model has been one of the best-selling and best value for money astronomy telescopes on the market, take a look at the in-depth user reviews and find out why. What can you see with the Celestron Astromaster 130EQ astronomy telescope, expect bright detailed images of our moon, see the moons of Jupiter plus the rings of Saturn and much more.

The Astromaster 130EQ offers a simple, fast no-tool setup, it features a manual German equatorial (EQ) mount with setting circles to locate and track sky objects. The Astromaster EQ mount comes with two slow motion control knobs that allow you to make fine pointing adjustments to the telescope in both Right Ascension and Declination axes, also referred to as RA and DEC. Supporting the telescope is an adjustable, full height steel tripod with an accessory tray, also included to get you started is a 20mm and 10mm eyepiece. The 20 mm eyepiece has a built-in erect image corrector, this means that the image you view is corrected to the right way up, making this eyepiece and telescope useful for terrestrial viewing as well as astronomy. Also included is a useful red-dot finderscope, this is a smaller optical telescope, it offers a much wider field of view to help you easily find objects in the night sky before actually viewing them through your main telescope, this must be aligned accurately to your telescope before use.

Starry Night Software: Download Celestron’s included Starry Night Software (premier astronomy software package) and learn about the night sky solar system and how to plan your next astronomy night.

Very happy

although I've not had the opportunity to see the stars yet as where I live the night sky is light all night I'm sure the scope will be excellent. I have used it for terrestrial viewing and was impressed with the clarity.

Super cool telescope. Not the easiest to set up for a beginner but once you have it blew my mind how clear the moon was. Waiting for the next clear night to see Mars

This is an excellent scope for the beginner. It is easy to set up and use and the image quality is good. I would recommend a decent Barlow lens though.

happy customer
08 February 2021  |

I found the telescope relatively easy to set up. I am a novice stargazer, so largely unfamiliar with telescopes. I am growing in confidence the more I use the scope and very happy with the service and the quality of the product.

Celestron Astromaster 130EQ Astronomy Telescope
07 February 2021  |

So far so good, due to the weather I've only used it once outdoors. The quality of product is good, instructions were easy to follow, took a while to get to grips with the tripod, that's me not using one before, but with a bit of play in the house got that sussed now. The images of the Moon and Orion's Belt were great, clear and detailed. I'm a novice with this equipment, but it's ideal. I can't wait for clearer sky's. A lot of websites suggest getting a Barlow Lens! I might get one later, but for now things are good. Previously I bought a novices 70mm scope for about £80 quid, that was rubbish compared to this. Recommended.

Straight to the Moon and beyond!
31 January 2021  |

Telescope is absolutely beautiful, powerful and easy to use after reading the manual and a few other video tutorials of course, but once all that setting up is done, you’ll be be looking at the sky in no time. So far I’ve been able to gaze at the moon with the 10mm and 20mm eyepiece (with the quite essential help of the finderscope) and it looks fantastically terrific.

Also, thanks to PicStop as delivery was quick and well packed without any issues.
