When battling dew, work smarter rather than harder. Your battery life is increased with the Smart DewHeater and Power Controller 4X, which optimizes power use for up to four dew warmers. Your optics are warmed just enough by the controller to prevent dew accumulation. The controller continuously collects and analyses data.
With its four connections, the Smart DewHeater and Power Controller can simultaneously control four dew warmers. While the other ports warm up a second optical tube, a guiding scope, an eyepiece, or another accessory, you can utilize one port to heat your optical tube. The controller offers your telescope a full range of power management options. It has four 12V DC output ports that can be used to power several 12V DC gadgets, including your mount, focus motor, and camera. You can change the voltage in one of the ports from 3V to 12V. The controller also includes three powered USB ports.
The Celestron Dew Heater Rings, which include a built-in thermistor to provide temperature readings of the corrector lens, are perfectly compatible with the Smart DewHeater and Power Controller. Thermistor for Smart DewHeater and Controllers from Celestron must be added in order for third-party dew heater bands or straps to function (sold separately).
Smart controls
A powerful microprocessor at the controller's core compiles data from the sensors, makes calculations, and automatically modifies your dew heaters. Using a built-in environmental sensor and thermistors, the controller keeps track of the temperature and humidity of the surrounding air, as well as the temperature of the heaters.
The Smart DewHeater and Power Controller 4X are accessories that can be used independently. You can also link it to the hand controller for your Celestron telescope or your PC if you want to view data from the controller and make manual adjustments. The controller is compatible with Celestron CPWI telescope control software, which comes with every Celestron mount, as well as NexStar+ or StarSense hand controls with the most recent firmware.
Power
The Smart DewHeater and Power Controller 4X can handle a maximum power of 240W (20A max current @ 12V DC) and works on a 12V DC battery (like our PowerTank Lithium Pro or PowerTank 17).
In order to power the entire system from a single source, the controller also has four 12V DC output connections. The extra ports can be used to power accessories like your mount, focus motor, and camera(s). Variable voltage is available at one of the power ports, ranging from 3V to 12V. For accessories like a DSLR camera that require less than 12V DC, this port is ideal.
Once they are linked, you can use the hand control or CPWI software to individually adjust the power to each device. Your linked devices should be turned off without being unplugged from the controller. If the current draw on any of your gadgets rises too high, resettable electronic fuses will protect them.
NOTE: One PowerTank Lithium Pro or PowerTank 17Ah will not have enough capacity to run your system all night if you are using several dew warmers in high dew conditions and powering external 12V DC devices. You will need a larger capacity battery or numerous batteries.
Hub USB 3.2
Cable management is significantly simplified with the inbuilt USB 3.2 hub, which links three USB devices to your computer using just one cable. There are three powered USB Type A ports available. Each USB port may be powered on or off using CPWI or a Celestron hand control, just like the 12V DC ports.
Unique Industrial Design
Featuring a sturdy metal shell, the Smart DewHeater and Power Controller 4X is energy efficient. The controller's internal cooling fan protects the circuitry.
The Bridge, which is located on top of the controller and houses the device's status LEDs and environmental sensors. The bridge also aids in managing cables. The temperature and humidity sensors are located here, away from the control panel and other parts that could produce heat. Our sensors don't need any extra cords, in contrast to competing devices, to get precise readings.
The bridge's LED lights show the device's status right now. If the controller is consuming more current than your power source can offer or if the battery needs to be recharged, the LEDs will alert you. If the sky is cloudy or gloomy, you can turn the lights down.
The integrated dovetail clamps allow you to place the Celestron Smart DewHeater and Power Controller 4X on your CGE or CG-5 dovetail. Use the provided strap to attach the controller to a tripod leg, if you prefer.
