The ultra-tall CNC-machined aluminium Vanguard Alta Pro 3VRL 303AV 18 tripod has a detachable levelling base, a VEO PV-18 Arca compatible video head, and an additional flat platform. A sturdy 75mm metal levelling bowl with ±15° vertical movement and a 360° pan replaces the conventional central column, enabling you to easily level the horizon and modify the framing of your shot. This levelling bowl has a 3/8" thread, so you can use any appropriate tripod head with it. Grub screws are included to make sure the head is snug.
There is a handle with a textured rubber grip underneath the levelling base. This provides a location to grasp firmly to optimise stability and may be used to help manage the level, making it easier to line up the ideal composition and then lock it in place when you're happy.
To maximise adaptability, the Vanguard Alta Pro 3VRL also has a lightweight flat platform with a reversible 3/8" or 1/4" thread for situations where a simpler non-levelling solution is needed. The levelling platform can be removed in a matter of seconds. If you own a variety of designs, you can buy extra flat and levelling platforms so you can quickly swap between your preferred kit without having to take off and put back on the helmet.
The tripod can be lowered to just 285mm thanks to its three easily adjustable leg angles (23°, 50°, and 80°) for low angle or macrophotography.
A 3/8" thread hole with a 1/4" adaptor on the side of the tripod canopy allows you to attach extras to enhance your shot and fits any magic arm. This also contains Vanguard's non-slip bayonet slot fittings, which ensures that your magic arm won't come free mid-shot when used with a VEO TSA DLX.
Additionally, the VEO PV-18 video head has a thread integrated into its side that enables you to attach a second device, like a directional microphone, that can be configured to follow your aim.
Retractable rubber feet at the base can be quickly changed from rubber to stainless steel spiked feet.
With a maximum load capacity of 15kg, the VEO PV-18 Arca compatible video head on top of the tripod offers a smooth, fluid movement with two long telescopic handles for optimal control.
A pan-lock knob is located on the base of the video head, and an enlarged tilt-locking knob that lets you adjust the vertical angles between -45° and +90° is located between the telescoping handle. This makes it easy to set your level when used in conjunction with the two big spirit levels.
There is a damping mechanism on the side of the head that lets you delay the movement and help control the vertical movement with your video camera on top. This makes it simpler to place your video camera in the best possible position. A scale to assist you in repeating a position over time is located on the other side.
If your spotting scope includes an Arca compatible foot, like the Vanguard spotting scopes, you may slot that straight into the clamp for optimal stability. Alternatively, the clamp on top of the video head is Arca compatible, so you can fit in practically any brand of Arca compliant plate.
The extra large Arca compatible QS-61P quick shoe, which provides a stable foundation for a larger device such a video camera and has a non-twist spring pin to guarantee that the video camera is always looking forward, is included as standard equipment.
There is a spring-loaded safety pin included into the base to make sure your priceless kit doesn't fall off in the event that the clamp is not tightened enough to hold the fast shoe firmly to the video head. Using the push button on the clamp's side, this can be removed.
