Maximise Your Celestron Origin's Potential: Improve the nebula views and pictures on your Celestron Origin, especially when looking up at cities and suburbs. For notably improved photos, this filter reduces light pollution, increases contrast, and darkens the sky background.

The Life of Nebulae: By transmitting only the essential Hα-Hβ-OIII wavelengths from emission nebulae, this filter causes their colours to stand out against the black background.

Conquer Light Pollution: This filter lets through the "good" light wavelengths from nebulae while preventing the "bad" light pollution from getting to Origin's sensor.

Specialised in RASA Optics for Origin: This filter was designed specifically to operate with Origin's fast f/2.2 lenses, allowing more of the light you want while suppressing the light you don't. In contrast to similar filters with narrower bandpasses.

Simple Installation: Just slide the Nebula Filter into the filter drawer of Origin after removing the optical pane. It doesn't require any additional adapters and won't interfere with your Origin's optical path.

Excellent Construction: This filter has optically flat, flaw-free surfaces made of Schott glass coated with anti-reflective coatings.

When you add this hydrogen-alpha, hydrogen-beta, doubly ionised oxygen (Hα-Hβ-OIII) image filter to your Celestron Origin, you may enjoy the most stunning views of nebulae. High throughput of light wavelengths from emission nebulae is enabled by this specialised filter, while other wavelengths that could reduce detail and quality of the image are blocked. The outcome is vivid, colourful pictures of nebulae that "pop" against the backdrop of the night sky.

How does Origin's Nebula Filter operate? The main light wavelengths at which emission nebulae emit are Hα at 656 nm, Hβ at 486 nm, and OIII at 496/501 nm. Significantly lessening the impact of light pollution, the filter transmits only these specific light wavelengths while blocking the remainder of the spectrum. While the "good" light connected to emission nebulae gets through to Origin's sensor, the "bad" light is prevented.

Your photos will have considerably more contrast right away, especially those taken in your backyard with its artificial lighting! Furthermore, only the backdrop will get darker because of the great transmission at the key wavelengths, not the nebula itself. Images of nebulae taken under darker skies will also show some improvement in contrast, since the filter effectively blocks natural sky glow.

Imaging emission nebulae such as the Carina Nebula (NGC 3372), Orion Nebula (M42), Lagoon Nebula (M8), North America Nebula (NGC 7000), and many more is made possible using the Nebula Filter. With maximal light transmission in the important Hα-Hβ-OIII wavelengths, the imaging filter produces a strong contrast for these kinds of emission nebulae.

The Nebula Filter has a transmission spectrum with less than 0.5% transmission elsewhere and 85% or more at important wavelengths (486 nm, 496 nm/501 nm, and 656 nm). It is a narrowband filter, meaning that only certain wavelengths pass through while most of the visible spectrum is blocked. As a result, when imaging or studying broadband emission objects like star clusters and galaxies, you should not use this filter. Reinstalling Origin's clear optical window and deleting the nebula filter will get the best results for those objects.

At the crucial Hα-Hβ-OIII wavelengths, the bandpasses of other comparable imaging filters on the market are substantially smaller. Unfortunately, for an f/2.2 optical system such as Origin's 6" RASA, these filters block a large portion of the incoming Hα-Hβ-OIII light. This is as a result of a spectral shift brought about by a RASA's steeper angle of light entry into the filter. An image will appear dimmer if you use filters that aren't specifically made for usage at f/2.2 since some of the nebula's light will be blocked. Nebula Filter for Origin: Specifically designed to operate at f/2.2, it blocks none of the "good" light from the nebula by accident.

The Nebula Filter for the Celestron Origin has a knurled rim for ease of grip during installation and a machined, black anodized aluminium cell.  Anti-reflection coatings have been applied to help reduce glass reflections. The filter is designed to fit perfectly into the filter drawer located in the front lens cell of the Celestron Origin, which houses the optical window. Just take out the clear pane and put the filter in its place. With the filter inserted, Origin keeps its optical performance intact. Another adapter is not required.

When not in use, each filter is properly stored in the foam-lined plastic storage case that comes with your Celestron Origin, together with the optical window.

Celestron verifies the functionality of each Nebula Filter for Origin by testing each one separately. A spectral transmission graph (similar to the one above) that displays the outcomes of your filter's test and confirms it operates as intended across the spectrum will be sent to you with your filter.

Solar Warning
Never look directly at the Sun with the naked eye or with an optic (unless you have the proper solar filter). Permanent and irreversible eye damage may result.
Never use your optic to project an image of the Sun onto any surface. Internal heat build-up can damage the optic and any accessories attached to it.
Never leave your optic unsupervised. Make sure an adult who is familiar with the correct operating procedures is with your optic at all times, especially when children are present.
