When used with a 1.25" erecting prism (not included), the Sky Watcher Startravel 80 Refractor Astronomy Telescope with AZ3 Mount 10729 is the perfect tool for wide-field observations of Deep-Sky objects, such as Nebulae, Star Fields, Star Clusters, and Galaxies, the Moon, bright planets, and Comets, as well as for daytime terrestrial observations.
This short-tube, wide-field telescope works well as a fixed aperture lens for both astronomy and regular photography. Due to its "fast" focus ratio, it can be used to photograph both natural scenes and lunar and solar eclipses.
The AZ3 Alt-Azimuth mount's slow motion cables, which are simple to use and intuitive, offer great stability and accurate control on both the horizontal (azimuth) and vertical (altitude) axes.
Air-Spaced Two-Element Achromatic Refractors
A standard single lens directs light of various wavelengths to various focal points.
Air-spaced two-element lenses, which minimise chromatic aberration more than conventional doublet lenses, are used in the construction of all Sky-Watcher Refractors.
