The Celestron NexStar 6SE Computerised Telescope has Celestron’s signature orange-tube and combines advanced features and excellent optics in one easy-to-use system. It is the perfect choice for your first serious telescope, offering striking views at an economical price.

The NexStar 6SE's 6-inch primary mirror packs enough light-gathering ability to observe the best that the solar system has to offer: Saturn’s rings, the cloud bands on Jupiter, and geographic features on the surface of the Moon. When it comes to deep sky objects, take your 6SE to a dark-sky site, and you will see hundreds of pinpoint stars in the Hercules Globular Cluster, the spiral arms of the Whirlpool Galaxy, and more.

We know the best telescope is the one you will use most often. That is why Celestron's engineers created NexStar SE's unique, patented single fork arm mount. It is perfectly portable and makes setup quick and easy. What is more, the NexStar SE breaks down into several lightweight and compact pieces, making it easy to transport, even in small vehicles. You will have no problem getting the NexStar SE to your favourite observing site, or setting it up quickly in your backyard.

Of course, it is what is inside the mount that really counts. Sturdy construction from high-quality components give NexStar SE the pointing and tracking accuracy needed to observe and follow your favourite targets with push-button ease. Use the included NexStar+ hand control to locate over 40,000 celestial objects, or take a Sky Tour and let your telescope show you the best objects currently visible.

Aligning your telescope is simple and painless thanks to SkyAlign. This process makes alignment easy: just centre three bright objects in your eyepiece and press ALIGN. For even easier alignment, attach our StarSense AutoAlign and your NexStar SE aligns itself.

The NexStar SE is compatible with all the high-tech accessories advanced users love. Provide GPS coordinates to your telescope with SkySync, or add automatic alignment functionality with StarSense AutoAlign.

For planetary imaging, pair your NexStar 6SE with a Skyris cameras. Or, experiment with wide-field deep sky astroimaging by replacing the telescope's secondary mirror with a DSLR or astronomical CCD camera with a Fastar/HyperStar lens assembly. From your first observing session and for years to come, the NexStar SE is your trusted companion.

A great telescope
09 February 2022  |

I'm a relative newbie, so was looking for a good all-rounder telescope. The 6SE certainly fits the bill.

It is large enough to get a good amount of light in, small enough to be easily portable, and the driven mount and star align are relatively simple to use.

The one feature that is harder to use is the spotter scope, but as this was well flagged in reviews I was prepared for this when I purchased and used one of the online hacks to make it easier to set up.

Thoroughly recommended.

I should add that the customer service and delivery from Picstop was flawless.

Celestron 6se
21 February 2021  |

Having now spent a couple of weeks with the telescope I can confidently say that as a total newbie to astronomy that this is a great way to start. It’s easy to setup and get going, the manual is easy to follow and with a minor bit of research on google it’s easy to get lined up and start viewing the sky.

The scope and tripod build is quality, feeling extremely substantial and professional, easily fits in the car for transportation.

Overall a great buy.

Initial Thoughts
23 August 2020  |

I have had the Telescope for a few weeks and have these initial thoughts.
The SE range of scopes have features that are different across the range so read the spec carefully so you understand what you are buying. I expected the 6SE to have a built in polar wedge and alignment tape on the legs, however these features are the 4SE and 8SE respectively and not on the 6SE. That said, the scope is easy to setup and gives good views of Jupiter and Saturn with the included eyepiece. I have bought a X2 Barlow lens which works well with the supplied eyepiece. I also bought a celestron omni 15mm eyepiece that works well on its own but not so good with the Barlow lens for my eyes. Before I buy anymore eyepiece I am going to do this at a local shop on a try and buy basis.

Great product. Easy to use for a beginner.
29 May 2012  |

This is my first telescope and, with all accessories, represents a significant capital outlay. However, the investment is well worth it. This is a complex piece of kit and requires patience to understand. Reading the manual for a first timer is a must. It takes practice to set it up correctly and is learned by practice and repetition. The effort made pays dividends when the GoTo is used for the first time and Saturn and it's rings are in the centre of the eyepiece. M31, the moon also proved to be good targets and allowed practice for changing eyepieces in the field to get greater magnification. Optics are good and clear with no apparent spherical or chromatic aberration.

Two very minor criticisms would be that running it on AA batteries is not practical. It does need a Power Tank. The finderscope took some getting used to but once mastered does the job.

I am more than happy with my purchase and am looking forward to doing some serious observing in the future.
