The purpose of trail cameras is well known: they are used to observe wildlife in their natural habitat.
It is now feasible to view nocturnal animals like foxes, deer, and wild boar without being observed thanks to so-called "camera traps."

With the Scouting Cam Black800 Wi-Fi, Braun Photo Technik, a producer of photography goods, is extending their line of Trail Cams. The smartphone can connect to the camera and access the photos with the aid of the free app. Within the camera's field of view, there is a P2P connection. The camera cannot be network-integrated. Without taking the camera off its mount, settings may be changed and recordings can be viewed. The software also provides a live image to help with vision adjustment. Delivery comes with a remote control to turn on the Wi-Fi.

The Scouting Cam Black800 Wi-Fi contains a PIR movement sensor with a detection radius of 120 degrees and three sensitivity settings, in addition to an excellent 8 Megapixel CMOS picture sensor. The Scouting Cam features 34 black IR LEDs with a trigger distance of 20 metres for recording at night. The trigger intervals can be set between 5 seconds and 60 minutes, although the trigger time is only 0.06 seconds.

The small, water-resistant camera housing (95x137,5x64mm) complies with IP66 protection class requirements. The Braun Scouting Cam Black800 Wi-Fi, which weighs 488 grams, has a 2.0-inch colour LCD for viewing photos and films that may be saved on an SD card (max 32GB, JPG- and MP4-Format). Excellent colour photos and films with a duration of up to three minutes and a resolution of 1296p at 30 frames per second are both guaranteed by the 8 MP CMOS image sensor. With the Scouting Cam, even valuable time-lapse recordings (video or photo/5 sec-60 minutes) are possible. The average standby time is six months.
The working temperature range is -20 to +60 degrees Celsius. The Braun Scouting Cam Black800 Wi-Fi can provide data such as date, time, moon phase, and temperature. It also includes an integrated microphone, loudspeaker, and password protection. Eight AA batteries provide the necessary power. To permit mounting on a tree trunk, a tree mount and strap are included with the delivery. The Scouting Cam can also be secured to a tripod as an alternative.

Great image/video quality
30 November 2022  |

After seeing badgers by our static van a few times, my wife & I decided to get a trail cam, the results are great. There are a couple of niggles, firstly I had hoped to simply be able to insert the SD card in my Mac to download the images, but the files aren’t recognised which is odd… Second niggle is the instructions, very poor translation so it’s taken a while to get to grips with it. Overall it does what it says on the box, & we’re happy with it.
