The Celestron NexStar 130SLT telescope has been a customer favourite for years thanks to its unique combination of high-quality optics, a user-friendly computerised interface, and a sturdy single fork arm mount.

This telescope comes with a pre-assembled, adjustable stainless-steel tripod, quick release fork arm, NexStar+ computerised hand control, 130mm Newtonian Reflector optical tube, and lots of bonus accessories.

The entire telescope kit is a simple, no-tool assembly and fast SkyAlign alignment procedure will have you ready to observe in minutes. This makes NexStar 130SLT your perfect companion for impromptu observing sessions and all-night stargazing marathons alike.

Your NexStar 130SLT will reveal details of the lunar surface, Venus and its phases, the polar caps on Mars, Jupiter and its four moons, and Saturn with its rings plainly visible. It can also be used as a land-based spotting telescope for daytime and wildlife observations.

Computerised Alt Azimuth Mount – The NexStar SLT telescope features a single fork arm altazimuth mount, which allows the telescope to track the desired objects as they appear to move across the night sky. The mount sits on a pre-assembled, adjustable steel tripod.

NexStar+ Hand Control – This computerised hand control enables you to automatically slew to any of 40,000 celestial objects with the push of a button. The NexStar+ database includes more than 600 galaxies, 300 clusters and dozens of beautiful binary stars. Not sure what to observe? Choose the Sky Tour feature and the NexStar+ hand control will automatically generate a list of all the best celestial objects currently visible based on your exact time and location.

SkyAlign Technology – The proprietary SkyAlign alignment procedure makes setting up and using a computerised telescope faster and easier than ever before. Point the telescope at three bright objects in the sky, and the telescope can triangulate its position and locate any other object in the sky automatically. You don't need to know the names of the stars, you can even pick the Moon or bright planets.

Power – Go anywhere. Feel free to enjoy your NexStar SLT in remote dark sky locations. It is powered by 8 AA batteries (not included) or a PowerTank portable battery (sold separately). The internal battery compartment provides power to the high precision servo motors for rigid, low-vibration performance while eliminating cord wrap issues associated with external battery packs. You may also power your telescope with a 12V AC adapter (sold separately).

Your telescope includes a StarPointer red dot finderscope, a star diagonal, and two eyepieces (25mm and 9mm). The two eyepieces offer different magnifications for low or high-powered observing. The star diagonal provides a right-side-up view and a more comfortable viewing angle when looking up at the sky. The StarPointer red dot finderscope will help you quickly centre an object in your eyepiece for easier observing.

NexStar 130SLT is ready to grow with you as you become a more experienced amateur astronomer. It is compatible with all Celestron's latest accessories, including StarSense AutoAlign, SkyPortal Wi-Fi module, and PowerTank Lithium.

Your purchase includes a FREE download of Celestron's Starry Night. This powerful software will help you learn about the night sky, celestial objects, and how to plan your next observing session. Celestron Starry Night is the premier astronomy software package on the market, providing resources and knowledge to view our solar system and beyond.

Excellent product. price and delivery. It would be nice to be able to more readily obtain a connecting cable telescope to computer but that is a Celestron supply issue.

Perfect for beginners

Good value for the price, especially for amateur astronomers. Takes little time to adjust the primary mirror and collimate for the first time after taking out from the package. Really easy to set up in the backyard and explore using the computerized navigator. My only concern was the package was left at my apartment floor in my absence, The shipper should be careful with such high-tech piece of equipment.

Picstop Good, Celestron Bad
07 August 2013  |

I bought this telescope for christmas, it was damaged on arrival with a bent spider and also the data in the handset was corrupted. I sent it back to Celestron who 'fixed' it. I'm an engineer by trade and all that I can say about the repair is that it left me feeling very disappointed. The bent spider had merely been 'straightened' instead of replaced and the kink in the metal was still visible. I tried to highlight my concerns to Celestron but they refused to speak to me directly and insisted that I had to take it up with Picstop. I can only assume that they were embarrassed by the standard of workmanship that they had allowed to leave their workshop.
In essence I paid for a brand new telescope and ended up with something that was in 'used' condition. If i'd known about this sub standard approach then I would have purchased this item second hand from ebay and saved some cash.
I hope that future purchasers have more luck than me.

Just bought this telescope. I know relatively little about the night sky other than the basics, but this telescope does most of the hard work for you. Fantastic buy!!

Excellent value for money
04 January 2013  |

The beauty of this telescope is that one doesn't need to know the night sky - it's enough to point the telescope to three bright stars in a triangular setting and let the telescope find which each star is and enter it into its computerized system. From there on the telescope unravels the night sky for you. The images are clear and many distant planets can be seen quite clearly, though sometime the size no bigger than a human nail. The magnification is such that any movement, even the slightest, causes the reflectors to tremble and the image to dance and become fuzzy - to overcome that putting a sandbag at the tripod's foot (as suggested in the manuel) really helps. Can be even used in the back garden where it's not all that dark. All we need really is more clear nights!!
